BIO
I teach organic chemistry at Chandler Gilbert Community College, Chandler, AZ.
I obtained B.S. in chemistry from the University of Madras, M.S. in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, M.S. in organic chemistry and Ph.D in chemistry from Vanderbilt University where my research interests focused on synthesis and characterization of novel organometallic compounds.
I am interested in enhancing student understanding of difficult topics in organic chemistry. I have been actively involved in pioneering several projects at CGCC (Williams Campus). I have internationalized CHM138 (Chemistry for Allied Health) and infused diversity in the introductory chemistry courses. I have also obtained Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction learning grants to increase students’ interest in organic chemistry. I received the 2006-2007 Maricopa Institute of Learning Fellowship to integrate chemical sustainability or green chemistry in the undergraduate chemistry curriculum.
I am also currently serving as the pre-pharmacy club advisor for CGCC. The club is located at the Williams campus. We meet on the last wednesday of each month. Several activities such as tours to Midwestern Campus, T-Gen (and more added each year), interview preparation etc are held each academic year. A new series of workshops on PREPARING FOR PHARMACY SCHOOLS will be held in Fall 2010. The workshops include the following sessions -
1. CAREERS IN PHARMACY
Additional workshops on service learning opportunities will also be held. We will bring experts and help you prepare as a successful applicant for pharmacy schools.
2. APPLYING FOR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS; STRATEGIES FOR APPLICATION PREPARATION
3. RESUME AND INTERVIEW WORKSHOP
